Awesome Time in Lancaster!

Though our numbers were few, we had a great time in Lancaster, Shopping, discovering facts about how Christmas is celebrated around the world, and enjoying some amazing food at Shady Maple.

The Weather was much colder and a bit more snowy and windy than we expected!
Once we got to the Rockvale Outlet, we parked by the playground, and started setting up for coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. We did some shopping, while the little ones played in the snowy playground, and watched some Veggie Tales.
Around 12:30p or so, we had lunch, served by Amy, of hotdogs, chili, and macaroni and cheese. dessert was homemade spice cake with cream cheese icing.
We did some more bargain hunting until about 2:30p, then headed to the National Christmas Center, in Paradise PA.
We enjoyed seeing scenes from Christmas Past, like a re-creation of an the original FW Woolworth Store.

Other fun things experienced were Scenes from Christmas Traditions from around the world, a Christmas village of anatromic animals with a storybook style, and a three-tiered train layout under the base of an imaginary tree.
After all the "commercial" aspects of Christmas, it was wonderful to see the collection of nativity sets from around the world, and a huge diorama depicting Jesus' birth.
Lastly, we were able to experience, even if onl a bit, what it would have been like for Mary and Joseph on their peril-filled Journey to Bethlehem. A wonderful start to the Christmas Season!
After our tour of the National Christmas Center, we made our way through the rolling Lancaster farmland to enjoy a wonderful meal at Shady Maple. Quite a full day of sharing fun together!
